UNIPARTS Large Loss Case Study

Werner responded to a client that manufactures large heavy equipment parts in nearby Iowa. The client had a fire in the middle of their facility, it caused hundreds of sprinkler heads to go off, flooded two of their large manufacturing buildings, and sent soot and smoke odor throughout the nearly 170,000 sq. ft. facility.

Throughout this massive loss, Werner was required to keep production going given the nature of their manufacturing. The loss happened on a Friday, and the Werner team was able to have production back up and running by Sunday night!

“Our top two concerns or challenges were of course assisting our customer with keeping their production schedule, but also the health and safety of anyone on site. We worked 24 hours a day for nearly three weeks with a staff ranging from 40-50 people cleaning, performing demolition, and structure drying.”

Comments From The Client

On October 4, 2019, a fire occurred in an air exchanger located in one of our 3 production buildings. Although the fire was located in the middle production building, the smoke and water damage affected all 3 production buildings as well as our office area representing app. 130,000 sq. ft. We contacted Werner Restoration Services, Inc. to help us with the restoration and fire mitigation process. It was important for us to get our production up and running as soon as possible to meet customer deliveries.

Brent Werner arrived the same day and immediately helped us understand what needed to be done as well as how the process would work. He then put his team to work taking care of all the restoration services. Within 48 hours Werner Restoration Services had the two production buildings up and running so we could service our customers. They quickly removed all the water standing on the floor and installed drying equipment in all production buildings and the office. Their team was able to work around our production workers and machines while they mitigated the smoke damage in 3 production buildings. This involved cleaning every production related machine as well as all building related structure and contents. They did a wonderful job of cleaning!

We also engaged their services to repair all building related damage. This was a large structural repair involving truss repair, ceiling and supporting wall tear out and complete re-construction. This also included a complete tear down and rebuild of our office area. The Werner team was very accommodating in every way. They removed all our office furniture and put it in storage. When they finished the office rebuild, they re-assembled all the office furniture and put everything back in its original location. We were very happy with the finished product.

In addition, Brent Werner and his team made the claim process with the insurance company seamless for me. They worked directly with the insurance adjustors and provided transparent reporting with weekly status updates to both the insurance company and us. This was a tremendous benefit to me in settling a large claim process... which can be daunting.

I would highly recommend Werner Restoration Services, Inc. to any company faced with a large restoration and/or re-construction project due to unforeseen circumstances.
